We encourage guests to explore Redesdale gently — on foot, by bike, or through Dark Sky experiences. Our upcoming Dark Skies Viewing Platform will give visitors a way to enjoy the night sky without travelling further afield, reducing car use and deepening their connection to the valley.

We use reclaimed materials for outdoor seating and small refurbishments, keeping waste low and improvements sympathetic to the landscape.

Our menus champion local producers, farmers, and makers. We keep food miles low, use seasonal ingredients, and minimise waste through careful planning.

In 2026, we are partnering with Hawick Distillery to host tasting events that celebrate Borders craft and keep economic benefit within the region.

We work closely with local groups, schools, and the nearby army camp, providing a welcoming space for gatherings and hospitality. We are developing The Mitford Evening and other heritage-led events that celebrate local stories, deepen community identity, and offer visitors a richer understanding of Redesdale’s past.

Operating without mains water means we manage our borehole and filtration systems with care, ensuring reliability while protecting the environment.

We prioritise improvements that reuse existing buildings — such as converting a small barn into a simple movement space — rather than expanding our footprint.

It’s about respecting the valley, supporting the people who live here, and offering visitors an experience that is calm, authentic, and rooted in place.
